Skilled Trades in the GLOW Region provide the foundation for the expansion and renovation of the residential and commercial sectors in our marketplace.  There are significant opportunities for upward mobility and many well compensated occupations in skilled trades which do not require formal post-secondary degrees.  These positions often necessitate apprenticeship training or on the job training to achieve specialized skills and knowledge. The New York State Department of Labor is predicting very strong job growth in this sector.  The economic impact of the skilled trades in the GLOW region is significant.  There are almost 4,000 skilled trades jobs with an average annual salary of $58,800.
